Ideenwettbewerb Sonneninsel Linsendorf

Die Sonneninsel Linsendorf, das sind 170.000 Quadratmeter Landschaft zwischen dem Hauptstrom und einem Nebenarm des Flusses Drau in der Kärntner Gemeinde Gallizien. Gallizien ist eine von 14 Mitgliedsgemeinden des grenzüberschreitenden UNESCO Geoparks Karawanken, der eine alte Bergbauregion im Grenzgebiet zwischen sterreich und Slowenien umfasst.

Ziel ist es, ein Leuchtturmprojekt für die Region national und international zu positionieren, das im Einklang mit dem Karawanken - Karavanke UNESCO Global Geopark, der Landestourismusstrategie Kärnten und Klimaschutzzielen agiert. Es geht um die Neuausrichtung der Beziehung zwischen Mensch und Umwelt, darum, das Schöne zu bewahren, zu intensivieren und mit anderen zu teilen.

Gesucht werden Ideen mit visionärem Charakter, die längerfristig dennoch nicht unrealistisch sind und als Wegweiser für künftige Entwicklungen dienen sollen. Der Wettbewerb soll die Initialzündung zu einem andauernden dynamischen Prozess zur behutsamen wirtschaftlichen und touristischen Entwicklung des landschaftlichen Kleinods Linsendorf sein.

Übergeordnete Ziele:

• Nachhaltigkeit und Behutsamkeit – Sicherung der natürlichen Ressourcen und des Landschaftsbildes, Erhalt ökologisch sensibler Lebensräume und pflegliche wirtschaftliche und touristische Entwicklung
• Regionalität –Standortstärkung für die Region, grenzüberschreitende Zusammenarbeit und Entwicklung, steigende Wettbewerbsfähigkeit durch „Green Jobs“, Bildung und Tourismus.
• Innovation – neue Konzepte der Multifunktionalität für Erlebnis und Erholung - Wohnen, Tourismus, Freizeit, Sport, Landwirtschaft, Kunst, Kultur, Bildung, alternative Energiegewinnung, nachhaltige Mobilität, ...

The Sunny Island of Linsendorf has a land area of 170,000 square metres and is located in the municipality of Gallizien in Austria’s province of Carinthia, between the river Drava’s main and side branches. Gallizien is one of 14 member communities of the cross-border Karawanken UNESCO Global Geopark, designated in an old mining region located on both sides of the Austrian-Slovenian border.

The objective of the competition is to produce a flagship project that will highlight the region, both nationally and internationally, and fit with the mission of the Karawanken/Karavanke UNESCO Global Geopark, the Carinthian tourism strategy as well as climate protection goals. The project should transform the relationship between people and the environment and preserve, intensify and share the beauty of local nature.

We are looking for visionary ideas with long-term feasibility that will serve as models for future developments. The competition should provide the initial impulse for a continuous dynamic process of careful economic and touristic development of the landscape gem of Linsendorf.

High-level objectives:

• Sustainability and care – preserving natural resources and landscape, protecting environmentally meaningful habitats and pioneer careful economic and touristic development
• Regionality – strengthening the position of the region, fostering cross-border cooperation and development, improving competitiveness through green jobs, education and tourism.
• Innovation – implementing new multifunctionality concepts for special experience and recreation in areas such as housing, tourism, leisure, sports, agriculture, art, culture, education, alternative energy generation and sustainable mobility.
